Workshop on new NIH scoring system

North Carolina A&T faculty members are invited to a grant-writing workshop at UNC-Chapel Hill, focusing on the new scoring system used by the National Institutes of Health.

The half-day event will be held Wednesday, April 13, in the Rosenau Building, Room 133 (searchable campus map — Rosenau is on Columbia Street near the hospitals).  The workshop is free. It is being organized by the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) and the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS).

The agenda:

  • 8:30 a.m.: Registration and breakfast.
  • 9:00 a.m.: Dr. Jerry Heindel (NIEHS) will present on what PIs struggle with the most when writing NIH grants with the new guideline.
  • 10:00 a.m.: Grantee panel with Drs. Ivan Rusyn, David Wohl, Joanne Jordan, and Christine Rini (UNC-CH faculty members who have been awarded NIH R01 grants using the new guidelines).
  • 11:00 a.m.: Reviewer panel with Drs. Ivan Rusyn, David Wohl, Joanne Jordan, Tom Kawula, and Martin Styner (UNC-CH faculty members who have reviewed using NIH’s new scoring system).

Visitor parking is available at $1.50 per hour in the Dogwood Deck, which is within walking distance from Rosenau.
