UNC system defense research group visits

Members of the UNC Defense Applications Gtoup visited the campus today to learn about research capabilities that can support research objectives of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.  Above, Dr. Celestine Ntuen, left, interim vice chancellor for research and economic development, and Dr. Jag Sankar, director of the Engineering Research Center, left rear, lead a tour of labs in the Fort IRC for, left to right, Dr. Courtney Thornton, UNC System research director; Kathie Sidner, UNC System defense applications engineer; and Dr. Stephen Lee, chief scientist for the U.S. Army Research Office.  The group also heard presentations on A&T research capabilities in advanced biometrics, advanced materials, bioengineering, and human-machine studies.
